Thanks Nana, Papa and Aunts / Uncles

We just received the last of the 3 boxes from all our Clements (and Leal and Hering) family members. Thank you!
The girls LOVE their nightgowns! It was a huge bonus that they were already prewashed and ready to be worn right away. They smelled great (the ziploc bags helped keep them fresh in the box) and the 3 of us agreed that their smell reminded us of .... Nana! What a special gift that was!!

Of course they loved all their presents (including the book from Paula which came in the 3rd box) but the card making kit is proving incredibly useful!
And the games are all fantastic!
THANK YOU!

New Year's Eve 2009

Just a couple of shots that I really like from our New Year's Eve in Schladming!

Mia and Ali with their BFF, Keira (back in Budapest from Tampa). Keira's mom, Kerry, bought them all matching Happy New Year shirts. The hotel had an entire kids' area set up for New Years. They had their own dining room, lots of games, arts and crafts, music, karaoke. They had the best New Year's Eve ever (not many to compare it to yet)! At one point they all arrived in the formal dining room where the adults were and all 3 of them were drinking Coke! My girls are not used to caffeine or soda and were so wired! It was scary and funny at the same time. Ali keeps reminiscing about New Year's as 'the night I drank Coke!'
By the way, they all have January birthdays and will be the following ages this month:
Mia: 7 Keira: 6 Ali: 4

Below - the newest generation. What will their verbal skills be like when they are so into modern technology?

Terence with his favorite person, Riley McGann (13), in the whole world. Riley is Keira's big brother and T's known him since he was 1 day old!

First visit to Toys R Us

While in Austria skiing with our friends, the store Toys R Us came up. Our friends' kids were shocked that our American kids had never been inside of a Toys R Us. We had never thought about it. It's not like we have one anywhere near us and even when we are in the US, we don't visit the Toys R Us stores very often (if ever).

After the concept of a mega toy store was explained to our kids, we saw how their faces lit up at the thought of it. So, on our way home from Schladming we stopped at the SCS Shopping Center outside of Vienna to visit their Toys R Us. Curt offered each kid 50 EUR to spend on something. The key was it had to fit in our already crammed car (our ski stuff takes up a lot of space)! It was a very fun experience for all of us. The girls especially were verbally overwhelmed while T just walked around in a stunned silence. Here are a few videos. I especially love the one of Mia who always wants everything and never thinks about the fact that we have to pay for it somehow. (side note: recently we used the word 'cheap' in a sentence and she actually asked us what the word 'cheap' meant. I asked her if she knew what the word 'expensive' meant and she naturally knew that word's definition. I told her 'cheap' was the exact opposite. What a concept this was for her!!)

To summarize, Mia had the most difficulty finding items within a 50 EUR maximum but managed by just a few cents. Ali was easily guided and was happy with an adorable new baby doll. T left the store with 29 EUR in his pocket as he desperately wanted the new Monopoly City game. He was extremely disappointed that they only offered it in German. We tried to explain that we were in Austria but he was too sad to listen. Looks like we'll be trying to order on Amazon in the near future.

Mia's 2nd Silver

As some of you may have heard, Mia received a silver medal in her second slalom race. She was amongst about 12 kids (many of which were older). We were so proud of her and excited for her but she did not take it well. She was upset that she didn't get gold. I must say that I found this very sweet as that is exactly how I would have felt!
Terence didn't compete. I think he wants to keep his gold memory and not risk the possibility of not being the fast a 2nd time...
Ali also raced but with some assistance from her teacher as it was more challenging then she could handle. She is 3 years old (nearing 4) and raced against Keira (almost 6) and another boy almost 5 years old. Fortunately there were only 3 kids in her miniclub class so she got bronze.
Unfortunately my camera is acting up and I cannot retrieve the video footage of their races nor Ali's receipt of her bronze medal... I also had a good video of T skiing.
In the meantime, here's a short video of Mia receiving silver and a photo of her pouting about it.
