Wednesday Night out with Girls

On Wednesday night a group of us went out to celebrate our 2 friends' birthdays: Deana and Fiona (they are the first 2 on the right). We went to B.O.B. which stands for Bacardi Original Bar. It's right on the St Istvan Basilica square - where our 3 kids were christened - and it's a beautiful setting with pretty decent food but mediocre service. I think it's the location that makes the place great.

This was the view from my seat

Me in the center with Kim and Jenny. Notice my new necklace that Curt got me in China. I love it! It's jade and amber and very cool and Chinese! I'm sure it means good luck - this is a joke as the Chinese think everything means good luck. Once Curt asked a group of Chinese while we were in Beijing, "So, what means bad luck?" They had no idea what he was talking about. As if something would mean 'bad luck'...

Swimming Ali

Last week, May 13th (Wednesday), Ali's class at nursery invited all the parents, siblings, whomever to come and watch them swim. The school takes them every other week all year long for swimming lessons. It's helped Ali so much as she started developing a fear of the water from about the age of 2 years. I'm not sure what happened but when she was 1 1/2 she was great in the water, wore arm bands and swam all over by herself. I even showed her a video so she could see how well she did. She just laughed in disbelief. Anyhow, this year of swimming lessons has helped her so much. It'll make the summer in South Carolina so much more fun with her swimming along (or at least nearby instead of clinging onto my neck) with the rest of us! Here are some snaps and 3 videos of her classes swimming day. Curt even joined us as he was flying out to China in the afternoon so it was an extra special day. T and Mia were there as it was on a Wednesday and they have no school on Wednesdays (it's a French school thing).

Meeting Baby Lucas

Yesterday (Sunday), we had the honor of meeting Aidan's new baby brother, Lucas Harman. Lucas is so sweet and tiny! He's not any tinier than most babies but you do forget how small 3 - 4 kilos of baby really is! On the day that we met him, Lucas was 9 days old! He's a sweet, very quiet baby! Not a peep or whine! Szilva and Jon - you are so very lucky!

Here are the photos:

Now, it's the Clements' turn to have a cuddle

T so wants a little brother! He played so well with Aidan.

He's such a big boy

And, Ali and Aidan really hit it off. Ali wanted to just mommy him and kept calling to him "Baby Aidan, Baby Aidan" then she would try and talk to him like a little mommy. It was very sweet.

The beautiful Harman family. Yes, Evy and Jon - I will send you hard copies very, very soon as this is a keeper!

It was a great afternoon at St Istvan Park in district XIII.

PS While we were there, Curt was on his flight back home from China. It was about a 15 hour journey for him with the flight change in Vienna.

Mia's Bank Account

At the end of April, on the 29th to be exact, Mia finally opened up her first bank account. The bank that Curt and I have an account at in Hungary is CIB Bank - an Italian bank. They allow children from the age of 6 years old to open up a bank account which Mia had to do. We discovered this with Terence but he didn't get his first bank account opened up until the age of 7 - shortly after his birthday. Mia had 6,520 HUF which she'd been saving up from pocket money and the tooth fairy's last 2 visits (she's only lost 2 teeth in total). This equals about $31 US. Since she opened up her bank account she has already gained .87 HUF in interest, deposited another 1,000HUF and received her first ATM card.

Here are some photos of our bank account opening experience. I'm so proud of Mia!
