One More Video

There are some random videos from our trip to Paris Disney. This was after the Buffalo Bill show let out and we were just hanging out around the Disney Village. France is on the same time zone as Hungary but we are on opposite ends of the time zone. It was odd as it was still light out there at around 8:30pm where it would have been dark in Budapest. They easily get an hour more daylight at the end of the day which made it fun for us to all stay out later.

In this video Terence keeps jumping off and singing the line, "I believe I can fly" from one of his favorite movies: Ice Age 2.

Daddy's on his way to China

Curt left early this morning to go to Shanghai, China. After about 4 or 5 days in Shanghai he will go up to Beijing through Sunday, April 27th.

Disneyland is Tiring...

GOING...

GOING...

GONE...

This is in the taxi from Disneyland to the Paris airport. It was the quietest ride ever. All 3 kids were exhausted! Mission Accomplished!

Buffalo Bill Show

We had probably the most family fun one night at this Buffalo Bill Wild West Show. It was great. We ate like we were cowboys at a campfire: chili, ribs, chicken, baked potatoes, corn on the cob. The kids loved it. The show was excellent with real buffalo, cows and horses. When we walked in we were all given a hat with one of 4 colored ribbons on it. This determined the section we sat in. Then, we had to cheer on our cowboys and / or Indians at the horse or shooting games they competed in. It was so fun. The kids didn't even try to move from their seats as they were completely entertained during the fun 3 hour show. Even Ali sat still and participated the entire time!

Had to get the photo on the right of T in front of the American and French flags.

It's a Small World

We loved the ride, "It's a Small World"

Curt's pretending it's a scary ride...

Our Hotel

Main Street USA

The first photo below was taken about an hour after we checked into our hotel. It's on Main Street USA where there are shops, shops, shops and a few restaurants and cafes. In the background is the famous landmark of Sleeping Beauty's Castle.

The only way into the Disneyland Park is through Main Street USA. The park then is split into 4 sections called: Discoveryland; Fantasyland; Adventureland; and Frontierland

Discoveryland included the famous Space Mountain: Mission 2 that Terence so bravely went on with me. I knew he was nervous as he usually doesn't hold my hand (or at least not in public) but he held it the entire time while we were waiting in line. He kept asking me about the ride. I remembered it from Orlando very clearly. I told him the scariest part about it was that it was in the dark so you couldn't tell where you were going or when you would hit a dip or turn. We sat in the 2nd last seat of the roller coaster. The first hill was fun and I knew he was laughing as this is when they took the automatic photo of us and I saw his big smile afterwards. After this initial descent, we started on a massive incline like a rocket ship getting ready to be launched. We paused here laying on our backs for a good 30 seconds before the ride hit full speed and the thrill began. I couldn't believe how scary and fun it was at the same time. All I kept thinking about was poor Terence who I could not look at because we were strapped in with one of those over the head / shoulder braces. I grabbed his knee and squeezed shouting, "Terence, are you okay?" I'm not sure what I would have done if he said "no" but I still had to ask. I kept squeezing his knee but he never said anything back or sent me any signal of movement indicating he was okay. I was so worried that he had fainted or something terrible had happened. When the ride came to an end I was relieved to see he was conscious and alert. The first words out of his mouth were, "I never want to go on that again!" He wasn't angry he was sounding more humorous than angry. I asked him why he didn't answer me when I was calling out to him during the ride. He gave me the funniest answer. He said, "I was afraid if I talked I would start crying". We both started laughing and gave each other a big hug. He was such a good sport and still says it was the highlight of his trip. Curt and I really thought he would chicken out but he put on a brave face and got on it. I don't think he had any clue that it would be so wild!

Fantasyland was the girls' favorite area. It included the famous "It's a Small World" which was always my favorite ride! We also enjoyed Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Mad Hatter's Tea Cups, Blanche-Neige et les Sept Nains, Les Voyages de Pinocchio (last 2 are Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio but they wrote them in French even the English map).

Adventureland had the famous Pirates of the Caribbean that Curt said he always enjoyed and took Terence on as we thought it maybe a bit too scary for Mia. The biggest rollercoaster, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril was also in this area but it had a height requirement of 1.4o m and Terence is only 1.36 m now. We all enjoyed climbing around La Cabane des Robinson (Swiss family Robinson's tree house) which I remember spending hours exploring when I was a kid. All 3 of the kids loved climbing around this tree, through the tunnels and across the rope bridges.

Lastly was Frontierland that was set up like the wild west. There was only one ride that Terence and Mia went on with Curt. It was the Big Thumber Mountain Rollercoaster that Mia just made the height restriction for. The both loved it.

These were taken on Tuesday (I actually managed to forget my camera on Monday).

Check In Surprise

We checked in right before 4pm. We realized the lobby was really crowded but thought this was just a normal thing. I overheard some people telling their children (many in French and a few in English) that they had to wait just a few more minutes. I figured out they were waiting for something but before I had a chance to find out, a bunch of the Disney Characters came out and down the main staircase dancing to music. The kids (especially Ali) were shocked with surprise. I knew this wasn't just for our check-in but this is how it felt. We were standing off to the side so I couldn't get too many good photos. I also wasn't prepared! Ali danced the entire time.

Later we found out that it happened everyday at 4pm. It was good that we caught it within our first 5 minutes of being in the hotel so we could check it off our to-do / must-see list!

This is from the top of the staircase where we had to turn for our room which overlooked the park entrance.

Disney from the Beginning

Both girls had to bring their baby dolls. Mia at least dressed her doll up but Ali's was naked. The photo of Mia holding her doll is in the taxi from our home to the Budapest airport Ferihegy 1. the photo on the right is in the taxi from Paris Beauvais airport to the Disneyland Hotel. Ali and Terence liked having the backseat to themselves (with Ali's baby, of course) while Curt and I sat in the middle row of the minibus with Mia (and her doll).

We're Back

We returned last night from Disneyland Paris. It was a great trip! Here is our token photo with Mickey Mouse yesterday morning after breakfast. The characters all hung out around breakfast time and had autograph (kids could buy autograph books - I'm glad our kids were not interested) and photo time with the hotel guests.

The reason there is a '15' after Disneyland at the bottom of the photo is because they are celebrating their 15th anniversary in Paris.
