Our Ski Champions!

As many of you heard by now, Terence won the gold medal in his slalom ski competition. It was a timed race that they did one at a time. Mia was in the same group with Terence and about 10 other kids ranging in age from 6 - 11 yrs old. Mia was one of the youngest and only 1 of 2 girls. The other girl, Viktoria, was from Denmark and also Mia's age. We are thrilled to announce that Mia won silver!!

The race was on the 5th day of ski school and the results were announced at an apres ski party at the ski school on Thursday at 4pm. They left us all in suspense with the results so it was a complete surprise to all of us when they announced the silver went to Mia and the gold went to Terence!

They asked us upon entering the apres ski party whether we preferred the Hungarian or American national anthem if they won. It didn't even occur to me that one of them won gold. I thought they were going to allow each kid a moment in the top position. Well, my answer was obviously the US anthem!! I actually shed a tear during it! I was so proud and it was the first time T had actually come in 1st in anything! The other kids got to stand all over the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions even though they all came in 3rd place through 10th.

The 2 kids standing behind him on the same platform were both 8 years old (T will only be 8 at the end of this month - he's very tall).

Look at his happy face! He's still walking on a cloud!

Proud parents enjoying a beer! Little Ali there to support her big brother and sister.

He had to pose for about 12 pictures as I could barely see through my proud tears!

Mia was jealous of his gold but about an hour later she realized what she had achieved! She got silver and beat out a 10 and 11 year old boy! She is absolutely amazing on skies. So it T but she is FAST and he only beat her by 1/40th of a second!!
